Zisurru is ambient noise music for spell casting: traditional instruments, electronic production, found spoken word and field recordings woven into immersive soundscapes. The name comes from the Sumerian-derived zisurrû, drawn around figurines or beds in Babylonian rituals to ward off evil spirits, ghosts and demons. Listeners can send in their hopes, dreams and confessions, which are worked into the music on a subconscious layer. Ancient experience, modern technology.
Five albums so far: one, two, three, sketches and Behold the Milk Maid, the latest, a departure from the earlier records with more live bass guitar than ever before.
